The End of Highway 64 East

Ride as far east as you can on Highway 64 and you end up on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  About an hour from the coast, you'll find yourself on a strip of land that barely fits the now two lane highway.  Look closely at the bogs and you might see turtles resting on pieces of driftwood.  At points you'll find pull-over spots that lead to beaches.  It is a beautiful and peaceful ride.  You can smell the ocean, and when the breeze scatters sand across the road it is as if you are entering a metaphysical, mystic place.
